you be ready to give your life for your country ? Why (not) ?
Giving one’s life for their country can be done through the war. What does « giving one’s life » mean ? Is it dying for one’s country or devote one’s self to it ? There is a big difference between the two meanings that we can give to this expression, but also similarities. One of the similarities is the use of this giving. Dying for one’s country can be honourable but, it should rather be purposeful, even more, it should be useful. I could be ready to give my life to save many people’s life. I am ready to be a slave or to die to make many people live peacefully.
But if I die, I won’t help people to find peace. I think that people should stop to fight. I want war to stop to exist, then nobody would have to give their life for their country. I don’t want to give my life for my country. I want nobody to give their life for their country. War only exists because of egotism and selfishness. And fighting won’t bring peace to people lives…
So I can give my life for my country, but only if it brings peace, so not during the war. Nobody should have to do the war. And if people who goes to the front are brave enough, that’s because most of them stop to think that they are going to die. Nobody is ready to die during the war. So that’s normal if I answer that I won’t die to help people to make war.
TRADUCTION
Tu as toujours de l’espoir. »
