For the last part I’m going to talk about the story of thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday of November in the United Stats. The history began on september the sixth sixteen twenty, when the Pilgrims were fleeing religious persecution in their native England. So they decided to travel to the New World to board a ship called the Mayflower. They left from Plymouth in England. They were one hundred and ten passengers on the ship. The trip was cold and damp. Many passengers became sick and died. They finally arrive on November tenth (1620) in Plymouth. They decided to settle there because it offered an excellent harbor. The first winter was devastating for the Pilgrims. Only a few survived the first winter. In March an Indian brave walked into the Plymouth settlement. The Pilgrims were frightened until the Indian called out “Welcome” in English. The Indians taught them to plant Indian corn and other crops. Without this help, the Pilgrims wouldn’t have survived. The harvest in October was successful. There were corn, fruit and vegetables, fish and meat. The Pilgrims wanted to say “thank you” to the Natives for their great help. So the Pilgrims Governor proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving to be shared by all the colonists and the Natives.

Today, the Americans families get together and have a big meal. Like the Pilgrims, they give thanks for being alive and being together with the people they love and this is the story of the hero’s of thanksgiving

Myths evoke the human condition in their totality and their stories are often incarnated by a hero, a place or a community. To question myths is to inquire about heroes and stories that are part of a collective identity. The universal theme of myths enables us to highlight the way in which each culture interprets human experience and creates works to express it. Each time period both borrows themes from myths of the past and creates new ones. Heroes can be a fictional or real characters who have impacted tradition, history, daily life, popular culture and counter culture.
