this laboratory, I noticed that there was a direct link between electrical energy, the heat content and the light production. The values of each of these will depend solely on the link as they all depend on each other(ex: if the amount of heat being produced will vary the light production). I observed that throughout the first part of this experiment, the calorimeter and the ink had an impact on the flow of heat energy. In other words by using the calorimeter, only the water had absorbed the heat, whereas without the calorimeter this wasn’t the case as the container that the water had been heated in also absorbed some of the heat. Also when the India ink was not in use, the energy in the form of visible light can escape the system. I think that my hypothesis was partly correct but rather vague as it did mention that the specifications of the light bulb and the fact that if it was in a calorimeter will have an impact on the relationship of electric energy, heat and also light. However I didn’t mention that the use of India ink will also play a role in this relationship. I forgot to mention that the inputed energy(power) will also vary the mentioned relationship. Also if the inked water was not completely opaque, there would have been visible light that could have escaped the system which would most likely change the results. If the room temperature is different than the water temperature, the temperature change of the water would have been different then in the lab as there’d be an exchange of energy between outside and inside the jar of water. To conclude, in this experiment I had to determine the quantitative relationship between electric energy, heat and also light which in my opinion will vary based on the light bulb that’s being used, the use of a calorimeter, India ink and also the amount of electrical energy flowing to the light bulb.
