4 Chairs expressing helplessness, suffering and death
Chairs throughout history and our society has expressed helplessness and is often a symbol of death, let me show you how:
3 examples
-The Middle Ages are know for their brutality and not much comes close to how brutal were tortures during that period. While there are many variants, many of them consist of simple wooden chairs which are laid with spikes all over the back, the seat, leg rests as well as foot rests. The victims were tide tightly to it to make sure there was no way for them to escape from the gruesome torture. These people had no power in the that situation, and the executioner had all the power over his victim. This is the same situation for restraint chairs which can be found in mental facilities as well as prisons, where the convict/patient was unable to move.
-Throughout the world, many countries still have the death penalty for capital crimes such as murder. For a long time, the United States as well as other countries, conducted the execution with the electric chair. This sent millions of hertz through the body of the convict, essentially frying his brain and as well as cooking some parts of their body.
-Many desperate people every year more than 40 000 commit suicide in the united states alone. One of the most common way of committing suicide is hanging themselves, and to climb up and tying themselves the noose around their neck most peoples use chairs or stools.
