To conclude I want to say that every political regime can be disputable and every society have their faults. But it's better to live in a Democracy that in a Dictatorship with propaganda , repression , censor , no liberty etcetera...

Idea of progress

I am going to talk about the notion Idea of progress. First, I would like to give a definition. The idea of progress can be defined as an improvment a developpment or a change , a technical scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. But the progress may be good to human and may be bad. The acceleration of advanced sciences and technologies and the cult of innovation and progress have been , for several decades , the reason for an increased awarness of the possible consequences of such technologies.

We will see that Humanity can progress and this progress can be positif for them. We will study Golden doors the Italian movie realized by Emanuele Crialese in 2006. In this movie a poor migrant family came to America from Sicily. We can see during the movie how it's managed at Elis Island to do enter people in America and We see a big gap between the United States and Italy because of technical progress that the US acquired. Thanks to the US lifestyle the immigrants change their lives. For them America is like a new world.

We will see that there can be also a progress but this progress can be negatif to the Humanity. This notion can be based on the Frankenstein story written by Mary Shelley in 1816 and readapted in many movie later. In this gothic story Mr Frankenstein create a monster when he wanted to create an artificial human. Through this story and the example of Scientific progress who create a monster we can compare this to reality with the professor Einstein who create with the technology the nuclear weapon and can send us to thousands years back in few seconds.

We will see that some society can have lack of progress like in the Hungers Games science fiction story written by Suzanne Collins and readapted into a movie later. In this dystopian story world is controlled by a Capitol who is an dictature. They forced people to play the Hunger Games who are a punishment ( expliquer le but du jeux ). In this society there are no progress because they live in post apocalyptic world.

To conclude I want to say that the progress is not necessarily a good thing even if it must be a good thing. The progress is requisite to development of the World

Spaces and Exchanges

I am going to talk about the notion Idea of progress. To this notion, I'd like to define it. These words evoke a continuous movement or circulation into a territory. The different spaces of the world are nowadays more and more connected to each other, and the exchanges can appear on many forms : information, trade, people... In order to illustrate the notion, I have chosen three documents :

First of all, we must know that the United States is a country of immigrants who travelled far away to have a new and better life.

Since 1820 the United States has welcomed approximately 60 million immigrants from all over the world, and principally from third world countries. For instance, between 1900 and 1917, eight million immigrants crossed the Atlantic to start a new life in America. Afterward, another million immigrants arrived at Ellis Island, but America was closing the door, limiting the flood of un-american people and un-american-ideas. And as we can see with the Golden Door movie who is an Italian movie realized by Emanuele Crialese in 2006 , they imposed many tests, quotas and other. In fact, Ellis island is a small island in the N-Y harbor but also it's like a port of entry and this is why the movie is named Golden Door. Moreover, there was the inspections has taking place in the Registry Room. In the “A Boy's Journey”, it can really see the difficulties and the hardship of “travel”.

Exchanges can be also about war. Especially the Vietnam's War from 1955 to 1975. This war is an opposition between the communist against the anti-communist. This is the first war in which the United States does not come out winners. It's also the first filmed war , the people could see the war every day on TV. Because of this , the american public opinion had litteraly changed their view of this war and became against. We have some celebrity who was opposite to this war like Muhammad ali who is a famous boxer in world and he was arrested and he had to paid a mulct. Last year we studied a song named Goodnight Saigon by Billy Joel which illustrate perfectly the Vietnam's War. The american , corean , australian ,spanish , etcetera have moved to Vietnam to make war against communist. They made a dirty war without any convention and honor.

To conclude I want to say that the imigration had several consequences in the exchanges and we talk so many about this while the state who receive lot ot migrants it's often the same states which went to make war everywhere on the continent.
